SFDA CEO

Locking Down Quality Control

Saudi Arabia refuses to compromise on public health and safety. SFDA CEO Dr. Hisham Aljadhey locked in serious talks with Dr. Oh Yu-kyoung, Korea’s Minister of Food and Drug Safety, during the massive ICMRA Summit in Seoul. The two officials reviewed their ongoing 2023 memorandum of understanding, which aims to drastically enhance the quality and safety standards of imported food, pharmaceuticals, and medical products. They are actively exploring joint scientific evaluations of new drugs to cut through the red tape safely.

Tackling Foodborne Illnesses and Halal Markets

The high-level discussions heavily focused on preventing foodborne illnesses through strict monitoring and advanced traceability practices. Representatives from the Saudi Halal Center also sat down with Korean technical experts to streamline operations in the booming Halal sector. Dr. Aljadhey didn't stop with Korea; he also held aggressive bilateral meetings with regulatory heads from the UK, Japan, Singapore, Egypt, and Portugal to ensure Saudi Arabia's safety standards remain absolutely world-class.
