Saudi Arabia Chairs Arab States Broadcasting Union Meeting In Tunisia

The Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union held its 115th meeting on Sunday. The important media gathering took place in the beautiful coastal city of Hammamet, Tunisia. Saudi Arabia proudly chaired the meeting, reflecting its influential role in regional media development. ASBU President and Saudi Media Forum Chairman Mohammed Alharthi led the productive session expertly. ASBU Director General Abdulrahim Suleiman and First Vice-President Mohammed Al-Awash were also in attendance.

They were joined by heads of various Arab member broadcasters and their official delegations. Saudi Arabia is actively participating in both the Executive Council meetings and a major festival. The 26th Arab Radio and Television Festival begins on Monday, featuring prominent regional media figures. A dedicated delegation from the Saudi Broadcasting Authority is representing the Kingdom at these events. In his opening remarks, Alharthi noted notable progress across ASBU's various activities recently.

He highlighted positive developments and achievements despite the numerous challenges facing modern broadcast media. He specifically pointed to the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence and new media production tools. Alharthi stated these profound changes are creating a completely new and highly competitive media environment. This rapid evolution requires the entire Arab broadcasting sector to adapt quickly and efficiently. He stressed the importance of leveraging data and modern technologies across all forms of media.

Alharthi noted the union's excellent progress in data management, technology, and digital infrastructure upgrades. He praised the strong cooperation between member broadcasters to achieve these vital modernization goals. These efforts are being advanced through specialized training programs for media professionals across the region. The training focuses particularly on cloud platforms and the integration of AI into ASBU Cloud. He also praised the high quality of training programs offered by the ASBU Media Training Academy.
