Najran Fig Orchards Hit Massive 650-Ton Annual Production Milestone
A Boom in Saudi Agriculture
The Najran Region is rapidly transforming into a major agricultural powerhouse. The area recently saw incredible growth in seasonal fruit production. Figs are leading this green revolution thanks to ideal weather and fresh local water.
From Tradition to Massive Investment
Local farmers completely modernized their operations. Fig farming is no longer just a traditional family practice. It is now a highly profitable investment sector that boosts national food security. Farmers successfully cultivate 23 different local and imported fig varieties.
Harvesting Massive Economic Gains
The local harvest season runs from early June straight through late October. Najran and its surrounding governorates now produce roughly 650 tons of figs annually. These farms span 35 hectares of rich, cultivated land. They sell fresh fruit and supply processing industries for drying and jam production.
Government Support Fuels Growth
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture heavily supports these local farmers. They provide modern irrigation training and promote sustainable farming practices. This helps farmers open higher-value markets and secure lucrative export opportunities.
