Royal reserves play a critical role in the Saudi Green Initiative. The Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve Development Authority attended a recent forum. They participated in the environmental sustainability event organized by the University of Jeddah. The authority contributed to three panel discussions highlighting ecosystem protection. Experts discussed developing vegetation cover and promoting sustainable local ecotourism. The authority also hosted an informational pavilion at the forum’s accompanying exhibition. CEO Dr. Talal Al-Harigi spoke during a session on achieving Saudi Vision 2030 targets. He affirmed that the environment represents a major global economic driver today.

Protecting Natural Habitats

He highlighted the contribution of royal reserves to advancing environmental efforts. The Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed and King Khalid reserves protect vital natural habitats. Director of Ecotourism Eng. Abdulhameed Felemban discussed cooperation with relevant entities. He noted the goal of increasing protected areas to 30 percent of the Kingdom. Ecotourism relies entirely on protecting nature through careful environmental management plans. The authority determines the carrying capacity of sites to prevent ecological damage.
