Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman al Saud: Founder and First King of Saudi Arabia

Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud was the founder and first monarch of the modern state of Saudi Arabia. Born in Riyadh in 1877, he dedicated most of his life to restoring Al Saud authority and uniting the several provinces of the Arabian Peninsula under one monarchy.

It started with the recapture of Riyadh in 1902 and went on for more than three decades. He worked towards this and in 1932 the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was officially founded. Subsequently, he concentrated on the construction of state institutions and the development of education, health, communications, agriculture and other sectors of the new state.

Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Bin Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud was a son of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal, the last imam of the Second Saudi State, and a member of the House of Saud.

He became known as King Abdulaziz, also known as Ibn Saud and Abu Turki. His family had ruled the Arab Peninsula for hundreds of years. The First Saudi State was created in the 18th century, whereas the Al Saud family originated from Diriyah in the 15th century.
