US Blockades Iranian Ports After Islamabad Peace Talks Fail

The US military will blockade Iranian ports on Monday following failed peace talks. The blockade begins at 10:00 ET despite a temporary ceasefire.

President Donald Trump ordered the action after weekend negotiations completely collapsed in Pakistan.

Oil Prices Surge As Hormuz Traffic Halts

Global oil markets reacted immediately to the escalating regional conflict. West Texas Intermediate crude jumped 8.7 percent to $104.95 a barrel. Brent crude rose 7.4 percent to $102.23 a barrel.

Lloyd’s List Intelligence reported that all traffic through the Strait of Hormuz stopped completely. Asian stock markets also declined significantly during Monday morning trading. Meanwhile, gold prices fell as investors unwound leveraged positions.

Iran Warns Of Retaliation Against Blockade

Iranian officials blame Washington for the collapsed negotiations in Islamabad. Tehran claims both sides came very close to reaching an agreement.

Military adviser Mohsen Rezaei vowed to counter the American blockade. Rezaei stated Iran possesses major untouched levers to defend its territory. He warned that tweets and imaginary plans will not coerce the nation.

Trump Dismisses Talks And Confirms Rescues

President Trump addressed the media at Joint Base Andrews. He declared he does not care if Iran abandons future negotiations. Trump insisted Tehran still actively pursues a nuclear weapon.

He also confirmed two rescued American airmen remain in very good shape. Forces safely rescued the pilot and weapons officer after their jet crashed.

Additionally, Trump strongly criticised Pope Leo XIV regarding the conflict. He lambasted the Pope for allegedly tolerating Iranian nuclear ambitions.

Australia Secures Fuel Amid Global Shortages

The conflict threatens global energy security and supply chains. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will visit Brunei and Malaysia this week. Albanese hopes to secure emergency gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel supplies.

Lebanon Conflict Intensifies Alongside Iran Crisis

The ongoing war continues to heavily impact neighboring Lebanon. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported 2,055 deaths from Israeli strikes since March 2. Officials confirmed attacks have injured at least 6,588 individuals.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam actively works to stop the Israel-Hezbollah war. Leaders expect diplomatic talks between Israel and Lebanon later this week.
