Oman Air Posts First Profit in 15 Years as Aviation Booms
Oman Air, SalamAir, and Oman Airports just announced incredible results for 2025. These three companies recently held a major joint media briefing.
They confirmed a transformative financial performance for the entire local aviation sector.
Oman Air Makes Historic Turnaround
Oman Air finally posted its first positive financial result in 15 years. The popular airline achieved an impressive RO 3.2 million EBITDA in 2025.
The company also reduced its massive bank debt by RO 27 million. This marks the first major debt decline since 2009.
The airline successfully carried 5.8 million passengers last year. This number represents a solid eight percent passenger increase.
Breaking Efficiency Records
Leaders improved operational efficiency by cutting costs per seat by six percent. Direct travel demand also surged 34 percent year-over-year. The airline filled exactly 82 percent of all available flight seats.
Oman Air expanded its global network with several new direct routes. Pilots now fly travelers directly to Amsterdam, Baghdad, Copenhagen, and Taif. They also launched a special new service connecting Salalah and Moscow.
The airline currently operates exactly 33 aircraft across 45 different destinations. Executives plan to add five new destinations in 2026. They will also expand the fleet to 39 aircraft by 2029.
SalamAir Revenues Hit New Highs
SalamAir reported massive growth with RO 137 million in total revenues. The budget carrier successfully transported 3.4 million passengers in 2025. Crews operated more than 22,000 flights with an 83 percent on-time rate.
The airline plans to enter exciting new international markets very soon. New upcoming routes include Port Sudan, Nairobi, Kigali, Vienna, and Medan.
Leaders will grow the active fleet to 18 aircraft in 2026. They expect to operate 25 aircraft by the year 2028.
Airports Manage Massive Traffic
Oman Airports successfully managed 15.2 million passengers across the country. Teams also handled a four percent rise in total air cargo volumes. Airports also established vital new direct links to Beijing and Amsterdam.
Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport recently won prestigious international awards. The Airports Council International recognized their outstanding customer service excellence.
Vision for the Future
This rapid growth perfectly aligns with the Oman Vision 2040 initiative. The entire aviation sector strongly supports economic diversification and digital transformation.
Officials will focus heavily on an integrated strategy for 2026 through 2030. They want to make Oman a premier regional aviation and tourism hub.
