Oil Prices Drop Amid Hopes for US-Iran Talks
Markets calm down as supply fears ease in early Asian trading.
Fresh Drops in Crude Markets
Oil prices fell during early Asian trading on Tuesday. Supply concerns eased across the global energy market. Investors noticed signs of possible dialogue between the United States and Iran. Leaders hope these upcoming talks might help end their recent conflict.
Current Price Details
Brent crude futures dropped by $1.86 to hit $97.50 a barrel. This drop represents a decline of 1.87 percent. US West Texas Intermediate crude also took a noticeable hit. It fell by $2.25, dropping to $96.83 a barrel. This marks a 2.27 percent loss for the US benchmark.
Previous Market Spikes
Both crude benchmarks actually jumped higher during the previous trading session. Brent crude climbed more than 4 percent just a day earlier. West Texas Intermediate crude also surged by about 3 percent. A sudden US military blockade of Iranian ports caused those initial price spikes. Now, markets hope peaceful dialogue will stabilize future energy supplies.
