Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Its Steadfast Support For The Palestinian Authority

A Saudi envoy addressed the AHLC ministerial meeting in New York this week.

Saudi Arabia continues to advocate strongly for the rights of the Palestinian people. Special Envoy Manal Radwan participated in the ministerial meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) in New York. She represented Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah at the event. The meeting was held at the UN headquarters under the official chairmanship of Norway.

The United States and the European Union actively co-sponsored the important diplomatic gathering. Delivering Saudi Arabia's official statement, Radwan reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast support for the Palestinian Authority. She stressed the absolute urgency of resolving the authority's severe ongoing financial crisis. She called for the full and immediate release of all withheld Palestinian clearance revenues.

Radwan emphasized that financial commitments must not be conditioned on the reform process.

She underscored the urgent need to align and integrate humanitarian relief and early recovery operations. This funding must exist within a clearly defined and sustainable political framework. She noted this framework must strengthen legitimate Palestinian institutions and maintain territorial unity. It must also facilitate the Palestinian Authority's return to govern the Gaza Strip.

She stressed that international economic backing cannot be decoupled from harsh ground realities. Radwan warned that settlement expansion and settler violence severely weaken Palestinian institutions. These actions erode the vital territorial contiguity and economic viability of the Palestinian state.

Such measures directly threaten the prospects of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Saudi Arabia remains firmly committed to a state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Kingdom will continue to use its diplomatic influence to support this goal.
