Aseer Four Healthy Cities: Five-Year Journey Toward Quality of Life

The World Health Organization granted international accreditation to four cities in Aseer. Abha, Mahayel Aseer, Tareeb, and King Khalid University City received this honor. He presented them to Aseer Governor Prince Turki bin Talal. This brings the total number of accredited healthy cities to 21.

The accreditation follows a rigorous five-year evaluation period from 2020 to 2025. The four locations fulfilled 80 international standards across nine key domains. These domains include community empowerment, health services, and urban planning. Life expectancy across the cities rose from 77.3 to 80.1 years. Each city established a distinct model tailored to its local environment. Abha successfully combined heritage preservation with health and active living.

Average emergency response times in Abha dropped to seven minutes. Mahayel Aseer prioritized environmental transformation and overall community well-being. The air quality index improved significantly in that specific city. Tareeb demonstrated rapid progress in closing previous service gaps. Safe water coverage expanded greatly for the residents of Tareeb. King Khalid University City provided an integrated institutional model.

They achieved full coverage across safe drinking water and primary healthcare. The accreditations highlight the evolution of the healthy cities approach across Aseer.
