Burj Al Arab Closes for Major 18-Month Restoration
Dubai’s iconic luxury hotel plans an extensive interior upgrade led by a famous architect.
A New Chapter for an Icon
Jumeirah Group announced a major restoration project for the Burj Al Arab today. The famous Dubai hotel will close its doors for 18 months. This extensive project will refresh the luxurious interior decor. However, designers plan to carefully preserve the building's original, historic character.
World-Class Design Leadership
Paris-based interior architect Tristan Auer will lead this exciting restoration work. Jumeirah executives chose Auer after a very rigorous strategic selection process. He previously designed the interiors for the prestigious Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. Auer considers this massive Dubai project a profound privilege and an extraordinary responsibility.
Celebrating a Historic Masterpiece
The luxurious hotel originally opened its doors 27 years ago. Its iconic sail-shaped silhouette helped put Dubai on the global luxury travel map. The massive 321-meter building dominates the city skyline from its own private island. Guests enjoy 198 lavish suites featuring gold leaf, marble, and beautiful Swarovski crystals.
Looking to the Future
Jumeirah CEO Thomas B. Meier praised the hotel's long history of world-class service. He stated this new chapter will carefully preserve the property's unique heritage. The company wants to maintain the design distinction of this iconic landmark address. The world eagerly awaits the grand reopening of this spectacular seven-star destination.
