The forgotten tour: US band that rocked Saudi Arabia

A progression of photographs of the US band Starbuck on visit in Al-Ahsa during the 1970s has been doing the rounds on Twitter. Furthermore, by its looks, they had a rockin' decent time.

Starbuck was shaped in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1974 and rose to popularity with their 1976 hit "Evening glow Feels Right," which came to No. 3 on the US Billboard Charts.

Oil goliath Aramco welcomed the band to perform in Saudi Arabia in 1978 to engage the American geologists it utilized. Their visit kept going two weeks, amid which time they played at Aramco stations along the Kingdom's east drift.

In spite of the fact that photos from the visit were posted eight years back on Facebook, they caught eye when they were presented on Twitter toward the beginning of January by Mohammed Al-Khalifah (@desertlover79), who is outstanding for posting vintage photographs of Saudi, especially the Eastern Province.

Al-Khalifah went over them while looking for old photographs of his home area of Al-Ahsa. In the initial two days they were on Twitter, the photographs had gathered more than 700,000 perspectives.

The photos were first shared on Facebook by Davie Holifield, girl of Starbuck's lead guitarist Darryl Kutz. On a tribute page to the late performer, Holifield has posted in excess of 800 photos chronicling her dad's life, including those of the band's Saudi visit.
