WAMY Highlights Global Efforts to Prevent Avoidable Blindness
The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) commemorated World Sight Day on 8 October 2026, emphasising the significance of eye health, the prevention of preventable blindness, and increasing access to specialised eye care in marginalised regions.
WAMY supports eye-care projects in several nations through trained medical teams, the Saudi Press Agency said. These teams assess for eye problems, provide medicines and undertake sight-restoring surgeries, including surgeries to remove cataracts.
The charity works with populations with little access to healthcare services. Its medical missions are intended to help people safeguard their eyesight and enhance their quality of life.
WAMY also emphasised Saudi Arabia’s contributions in the area of humanitarian and international medical assistance, reiterating its commitment to continuing projects that combat vision loss in vulnerable areas.
