Red Sea Fund Highlights Film Financing Opportunities At Busan International Festival
Empowering Filmmakers Across Asia And The Arab World
The Red Sea Fund, affiliated with the Red Sea Film Foundation, participated in a prominent industry panel at the Busan International Film Festival. Held in South Korea as part of the Asian Contents and Film Market, the session was titled "A Conversation on Film Funds." Red Sea Fund Initiatives Manager Mai Al-Shaibani represented the Saudi foundation alongside leaders from major Asian cinema institutions. Panelists from the Korean Film Council Fund, the Asian Cinema Fund, Film Philippines, and the Purin Film Fund joined the discussion. Together, they examined modern mechanisms for financing independent movies and expanding international co-production opportunities for emerging directors.
Over 280 Films Supported Since Launch
In addition to the panel discussion, the Red Sea Fund presented a special market award to support a promising new project in Busan. Furthermore, the 31st edition of the Busan International Film Festival screened 10 diverse feature films supported directly by the Red Sea Film Foundation. This strong festival presence underscores the foundation's growing influence across the global cinema landscape. Since launching in 2021, the Red Sea Fund has backed more than 280 film projects across development, production, and post-production stages.
