The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Saudi Arabia conducted 26,118 inspection rounds in public utility markets in the third quarter of 2026. Food safety and reliable supply were supported through inspections on produce, livestock, meat markets and slaughterhouses.

Inspectors carried out 3,729 inspection rounds in July, discovering 335 infractions and giving 571 warnings, the ministry said. In August, the number of inspections rose to 12,220 and in September, 10,169 rounds were conducted across 17,857 institutions. A total of 1,165 inspectors took part in the September operations.

The ministry also said domestic self-sufficiency levels were high for a number of food goods. These were dates at 127%, dairy at 120%, eggs at 105% and veggies at 82%.

The inspections are part of the Kingdom’s efforts to secure food security and provide monitoring of markets in accordance with Saudi Vision 2030.
