Exploring New Development Opportunities
Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser also met with officials from the Republic of Benin. He spoke with Delegate Minister Hugues Oscar Lokossou in Bangkok today. They explored new prospects for vital infrastructure and agricultural cooperation. The Islamic Development Bank signed two massive co-financing agreements with Benin. The Saudi-headquartered group will provide 326 million euros for these initiatives.
Modernizing Regional Highway Networks
The first project expands the Godomey-Ouidah-Hillacondji road network significantly. This specific road modernization project costs roughly 576 million euros total. The bank will provide exactly 306 million euros for this construction. Engineers will improve road safety and increase daily traffic efficiency. This massive highway project reduces regional travel times and transport costs. The new roads will greatly enhance regional connectivity and commercial trade. Better infrastructure allows local businesses to transport goods quickly.
Investing in Sustainable Agriculture
A second major agreement targets sustainable agricultural systems inside Benin. Farmers will intensify legume-based farming to enhance local soil fertility. This agricultural project requires a total investment of 20 million euros. The development bank will supply 19 million euros for this initiative. This crucial funding directly supports national food security and agricultural resilience.
Supporting Global Economic Progress
Benin officials thanked the bank for its continuous economic assistance. Saudi Arabia continues supporting sustainable development projects across the African continent. Such agreements highlight the dedication of the bank to global prosperity.
