Diriyah Celebrates National Day By Bringing Deep Saudi History To Life
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority hosted spectacular military and cultural parades.
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority marked the Kingdom's National Day with an expansive celebration. They organized a massive lineup of cultural, historical, and military events this week. The authority turned Diriyah's heritage sites and public squares into living theatrical stages. These events beautifully celebrated the collective memory of the entire Saudi nation.
Mani' Al-Muraydi founded Diriyah nearly six centuries ago on the banks of Wadi Hanifah. It eventually became the capital of the First Saudi State. Today, it remains a cornerstone of the nation's political and cultural legacy. Ahlam Al-Thunayan is a Senior Director at the Diriyah Gate Development Authority.
She said the celebrations reflect deep-seated values of national solidarity and pride.
The events help connect new generations with the enduring legacy of King Abdulaziz. This year's programming featured a massive joint military and equestrian procession. Participants moved from the DGDA headquarters toward Wadi Hanifah along Imam Abdulaziz bin Saud Road. A military motorcycle parade also wound through prominent local roadways and historical landmarks.
In the historic UNESCO-listed At-Turaif District, advanced visual mapping amazed the crowds. Bright light shows projected onto the walls of Salwa Palace chronicled the state's founding. These high-tech displays were complemented by traditional Ardah performances and guided heritage tours.
DGDA also hosted cultural sessions featuring educational dialogues and poetry evenings.
At Al-Bujairi Terrace and Zallal, festivities expanded further with traditional Samri performances. Visitors enjoyed musical showcases, interactive workshops, and lively neighborhood community activities. The events firmly established historic Diriyah at the absolute heart of the national celebration.
